How ReHeet works β€” and what it won't do

The knowledge base, not the AI, decides your instructions

Every time, temperature, and step ReHeet shows you comes from a structured, human-reviewed knowledge base of food Γ— appliance methods. AI is used for exactly one thing: looking at your photo and identifying whichfood is on the plate. It never invents cooking instructions on the fly. That's deliberate β€” it makes answers consistent, reviewable, and correctable.

Food safety is anchored to the USDA

All reheating guidance targets 165Β°F (74Β°C) internal temperature, per USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service guidance for leftovers. Foods with documented elevated risk β€” cooked rice (Bacillus cereus), poultry, seafood, eggs, and ground meats β€” carry explicit warnings on every surface where they appear. ReHeet will never tell you food is β€œsafe to eat”: a calibrated food thermometer is the only tool that can verify that, and we say so everywhere.

Wattage calibration

Microwave times in our knowledge base are calibrated at 1,000W. When you tell us your microwave's wattage, we scale time inversely (energy β‰ˆ power Γ— time), clamped to Β±60% to keep results sane. It's physics, not magic β€” but it's the difference between a 700W dorm microwave and a 1,200W beast.

Texture methodology

Methods are chosen around how reheating actually fails: starch retrogradation (rubbery pizza crust, bricky rice), broken emulsions (grainy mac and cheese, split alfredo), and moisture migration (soggy fried coatings). The fixes β€” dry heat for crisp, added liquid + cover for steam, low-and-slow for proteins β€” are standard food-science technique, ranked per food.

Your photos

Photos are downscaled on your device, sent for identification, and discarded. They are not stored, not used for training, and never shared. Your reheat history lives in your browser's local storage.

Found an error?

The knowledge base is versioned and corrected continuously β€” the πŸ‘/πŸ‘Ž after every timed reheat feeds directly into review. If a setting failed you, tell us. The next person's pizza depends on it.
